Last November bought some JD chips via ebay and added some base spirit, and following instructions on the net kept putting the bottle in the freezer and taking it out UNTIL Early Jan when I had to have an emergency op, the bottle had been sat on the side since January and my wife was sorting her wine out and decided to sieve the wood from the spirit.
The spirit had a brown/slight green look to it and she said it tasted wonderful - I had to wait till today and had a teaspoon of original JD and a teaspoon of my concoction and I must say I prefer mine by a long way - no chemical taste at all.
I think because i could only have a very small amount I have become really sensitive to the after taste JD left.
Interesting though, when i get better I will try a bigger batch.

Hey Hic52, just read your post -- hope everything went OK!
Get well soon and take it easy. If the Doc sez no more home brew -- consider fishing instead.
Ciao, Ronbo.

Thanks Ronbo the op i had involved a cut from belly button to chest to open up my abdomen so can\'t go fishing for 12 weeks due to needing to cast ahhhh - so watching a lot of tv and on the computer, have some work to do on the car too so really frustrating plus want to go back to work.

BUT am a few weeks down the road now so getting there.

Home brew isn\'t ruled out completely its just delayed as my stomach inside is a little tender, I recon maybe another 6 weeks or so but will really enjoy it when i have it.

Least one advantage is all the home brew will have chance to age more than usual lol
