As commercial Absinthe left the marketplace many years ago,I doubt that there are many alive today who could claim to have drunk it..

You can buy commercial Absinthe in Canada and the US. It may have less Thujone than the traditional recipes. Or not. Interesting reading here:

There are lots of commercial absinthes available these days - some good, some not so good, some barely absinthe at all. I'd avoid anything spelled "absinth" imported from eastern Europe. I'd also avoid anything that brags about its thujone content. The whole thujone thing is mostly nonsense left over from the absinthe prohibition hysteria of a century ago (see the link in Chuck's post). You get more thujone in a big serving of sage and onion stuffing than in a glass of a traditional absinthe recipe.

I think the bipolar disorder and/or the tertiary syphilis were at least as much to blame as the absinthe. Back then a substantial percentage of the French population were drinking as much absinthe as Van Gogh, but most of them didn't perform auto-aurectomies.

I have no excuse for Leonardo DiCaprio though.
