T500 needs a mod.
Used mine over the weekend and everything ran fine but when flushing the Column i noticed the dreaded leak between column and black cap.
I did some reading and it seems a common issue so i thought i would take it apart and fix the oring, when taking it apart it had no orings in it and was sealed with some form of silicon which i removed. I put the cap back on with some Teflon tape and tried blowing through it while blocked of and cant notice any leakage but its not sealed by any real mean.
Still spirits say this.
If there is a vacuum then i can see it working fine but i dont know how a vacuum is created.
Are there any modded parts to buy for the top end, i would like to seal this sucker up better, I do not wish to go a complete change as i like the simplicity and way the still works, it just needs better parts than the plastic one.
Can i buy the black cap anywhere, i could use it as a template to make a SS one.

When I am cleaning my T500, water runs out from the crack between the plastic at the top and the metal tower, should this happen? Will spirit escape during distilling?
Yes this will happen during cleaning as there is no seal at the top of the tower between the top cap and the stainless steel condenser. This does not have any effect on the operation of the still, as the reflux process causes a vacuum effect sucking all vapour from the tower to the condenser.

If you can fabricate it in S/S, then do so, I'll order one as well if the price is right.

I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.
