I know it might sound stupid, when i add hot water to the fermentation

bucket can i use hot water out of a tap or boil water first with a kettle(long time)then wait till cool down or add cold water and heat up with a brew belt till i have achived a good starting temp? thanks :S

hi mate

what I do is pour 2-3 kettles of boiling water in the fermenter and add 2kg of sugar with each kettle load, leave and/or stir till sugar is desolved.

Then I top it up with cold tap water and its about 30oC when filled which is just about right for adding yeast.
But whatever you do is fine as long as the temp when you add the yeast is about right.

I use the hot tap. I guessed with having a combi boiler it would be OK as the hot water is instantly heated and not sat in a tank. I noticed no difference in the finished product. However I did notice a difference when doing wine with tap hot water.

Me ? I just make the wash up in the morning, not bothering about the temperature, with tap water (hot and cold), to the correct amount, add the sugar, stir the bejesus out of it and then leave it.
I pitch the yeast when it\'s got to about room temperature in the evening......
Never failed to work so far......
