All Grain Whiskey

I\'ve been looking at some all grain whiskey recipes with a view to giving it ago.

The recipes don\'t show the wort being boiled as with a beer mash it also says to ferment on the grains rather than filtering of the wart and fermenting it.

My question is; Is this normal for an all grain wash or should I just carry on as I would with a normal all grain beer(obviously minus the hops).

You don\'t need to boil because your not adding hops. When your mashing your grains you are pasturising the wort anyway.

When I have done it I always make just two gallons for use in my smart still. I have never fermented the grains but I have heard about it. Give it ago and let us know the out come.

Thanks for that Umpa I\'ll give it a try and post the results. It\'ll be few weeks off though as I\'m trying to get some bulk with some sugsr washes for a forthcoming social event.
