My first triple distill
Hi all,
Figured I might share my latest experimentation with my T500. Today, I finally finished my first Triple Distilled Batch. Soooo....
What I did:
4 x 25L batches of a cornflake based mash. Fermented slowly till 14% (+/-).
Distilled each batch and got roughly 3.3L at 95%. 13.2L total
2 x 20L batches, brought down to roughly 30%.
Distilled each batch to 6L at 95%, total 12L
Diluted again to 30% and distilled a third time.
Was left with 10.8L at 95%.
Finally diluted to 50% and had 20.2 L of it
My Verdict:
WOW !! I liked how the stuff tasted on a single distill using a turbo yeast but this is soooo...... different !! It literally has NO TASTE and almost no smell. Not even an alcohol smell. This is very good tasting.
CONCLUSION:
It is by far better to distill more than once and go for a better quality product rather than volume. If I simple single distilled, and went with 4 washes, I would be left with 25.2 L rather than 20.2 L. So, over all, I sacrificed 5L of liquor for SIGNIFICANTLY better tasting stuff.
I will be doing this again for myself, but if I'
m making stuff for my mates, they can have the single distilled stuff and not care !
