seems like it was a good day to finish some of the ROBO-RUM,, last wash stripped and run for the cuts,,
looks like the summer will have plenty of good spirits around,, all we need is some warm weather,, he says as the fog from the North Atlantic rolls in,,,,,

Today I found out that it is bloody impossible to de-solder a 2" copper fitting.

I thought that I would be able to recycle a couple of old fittings but with my torch I could not get the whole joint at melting poin at the same time. I heated up one section of the joint and when I moved onto the next bit the first one promptly solidified . I tugged and twisted the joint with a pair of pliers but by now the fitting was so soft it just bent and distorted.

I eventually cut the fittings out with a hacksaw and threw them in the scrap bin.

Yesterday set the last fermentation tank to working. Last one for a while anyway. Now going to take a break and head up the West Coast (on the Gulf of Tonkin)to a resort for a day of beach cricket, swimming, BBQ and spend the night. Back tomorrow.

With the first Tropical storm of the Atlantic bearing down on us, (we live on the east coast of Canada) it seemed to be a wet dreary day,
So no washes to do cept the laundry, I have decided to enjoy a few tipples of the rum I have created,, the silver is nice with a good slice of lime and a dash of cola.. Tropical storm Andrea is moving off and the winds are beginning to die dowm, hopefully the rest of the summer will only bring a few storms,,,

Back from a great run up the coast to a new resort development. Too hot for cricket so we packed it in after one innings and hit the pool. That was like swimming in a hot bath.

BBQ Sat night put on for the team. The hotel provided beer but they are not actually open yet so nothing hard. I just happened to have taken some rum and mango flavored vodka. The guys from Nepal consumed huge quantities. A good time had by all.

waited eagerly for the courier to bring me my bargain buy
a electric burco lookalike, filled it up to see how much it holds (27L/28L)
decided to give it a vineagar/water run to descale it(although it didnt need it as it was clean as a whistle),left it for an hour or so went to check it and the
kitchen was like a turkish sauna, time to clean this mess up before the missis wakes up from doing nightshift :-[

The only thing I did today was to take my daughter and her boyfriend to Newcastle International Airport. They are going to Tennerife for a week's holiday.

I'm really jealous.

I redesigned and resoldered my parrot today. After my recent refit and re-org of my still I decided to arrange to have the strip feed directly to my low wines keg under the counter and this meant building the parrot into the countertop.

This will save me from having to collect in small jars and pouring into the keg - I always manage to spill loads on the floor ::)

I'll post some pics when I do the first stripping run with the new setup ;D

not today, but yesterday I tried out my steam wand to let me mash some maize - the wand worked great, but still didn't get good conversion.

I posted over here hoping some of the US crowd will know where I am going wrong.
