Hi
Thought I’d introduce myself, my name is chris, I’m from deepest darkest Suffolk and I’m in the very early stages of researching and deciding what type of still I’d like to build and run :)

Welcome to the forum, just ask and the guys will try to help out. Looks like you've decided to build and not buy a still then?? so what ideas do you have? what style.

Hi
Thanks for the welcome. The plan is to build an electrically heated 50l keg with a 54mm pot and Liebig condenser.
I’m thinking about making the column modular so I can remove the Liebig and swap for an extension with Boka head for running neutrals.

Hi there and welcome.

There's a guy on YouTube who's documented almost the exact journey you're about to undertake.

I highly recommend his series to any newcomer.

Thanks for the video, it’s interesting to see how he’s done it.
I was thinking of simply having a threaded connection 3/4 of the way up my column which I could take apart and then screw in an extension with a Boka head.

I like the look of the shotgun condenser though

StarkBlood80, welcome and can I offer the same advice that I offer all Keg still builders?
Based on my own experience with a keg still over 30 years ago, long before the inter webs.
Incorporate an opening large enough for your hand, a torch and a scrubbie.
You will thank yourself, if not me for doing so.

Robert.
There is no ONE way.

Go for the modular idea, not only is it a lot easier to strip and store the sections. It's easy to clean, and then when you want to work it you just click together the sections you want....it's a win-win... 8)
