But after the roaring success of the
Wheat Vodka, am using this.

Fermentation is slowing a little at end of day 3.
Still bubbling happily tops still bulging. :)

Just checked now @1028 so some to go
yet. Lovely smell of wheat coming off,
and some vigorous fizzing.
Mash, would this make a good Vodka,
fast strip on copperhead then fast run
on T500 . Or turn into J.D. using chips ???

Planning next wash.

Bought some of this.
If I used 500g of dark and 300g of pale.
Simmer at 70 c for 45 mins.
5kg sugar invert warm water.
Add all to fermenter top up to 26ltrs.
Add Vodka Star yeast @ 25 c and lock.
Your thoughts please gents ???

Its just dissolving the sugar in warm water
to make a sugar wash/syrup Seagull. Just
a short way of explaining.

Be careful Gaza. That could be misleading.

Inverting sugar is not just dissolving it.

You normally heat it in a saucepan with citric acid. The sucrose is converted into glucose and fructose which ferment much easier, increasing the alcohol.

Citric is probably the most readily to hand in kitchen. Some recipes call for inversion, some don't. Whether or not it's worth the exercise I've never determined. I only do it when called for.

The citric acid is used in the conversion. Any left will not negativity affect the mash.
