Ferment On the grain

Or mash and then drain into fermenter off the grain...........what exactly is the difference?

Ferment on the grain is where you don't drain after mashing.

Top tip. Keep punching it down. The gas gets underneath and lifts it out.

Not a brew for the feint hearted, but gives good results.

Oh sorry Mash, I know the difference in terms of what you do.......my question is more ‘ what’s the advantage of one over the other ?

Mashing is a messy affair.. Leaving the grain in is cleaner /easier.

Flavour is also far more complex on the grain.
