Could always move to the Isle of Skye, according to the Scottish Road Cameras they don't have snow.

You bar steward, I consider it far too early to wet the seeds.
Excepting the garlic (cloves), which is/are starting to romp.

Ordered some seeds yes.
But I haven't wet any yet. Still too cold imo.

I have had my garlic in since October good 25cms. Garlic seems better if it over winters round here.

Yes it's cold. but having used a greenhouse for many years for propagation and early starting, I know that the greenhouse is as cold, or warm, as I allow it to be.

Insulation, bottled gas, a Bunsen Burner, with other knick knacks can have a remarkable and economic effect. It isn't a hothouse, it's a mild climate that doesn't drop below about 6ºC at night.

Come April/May, my sowings will be the match of any plants on offer in Garden Centres at a fraction of the cost. I have roughly 800 germinations at the moment.

For a moment there I wondered if you are running the still in the greenhouse and reusing the heat.

Now there is an idea. In the past I used a Parasene Paraffin heater and found it to be surprisingly efficient. I don't have a greenhouse at the moment but it is on my to-do list.

Am Italian mate uses waste oil (kitchen and workshop) in hurricane lamps.

I have a poly so I don't think heating is an option.

We have a very old gas greenhouse heater, pressed into service when the greenhouse is used for seedlings.
And a few years ago I did 'second skin' the greenhouse with polytunnel plastic and timber.
Still way too early to germinate here.

We have just enjoyed day 4 of being cut off from the outside world.
The road outside our drive is blocked by snowdrifts for a mile and a half in each direction.
Beyond that snow ploughs reached, leaving 4 miles to major roads.
The farm next door have a tractor abandoned at the end of their track, and the one after them have abandoned a Landy Discovery and a pick up in the field.
JCB's may appear tomorrow and dig some snow.
Tonight it is snowing some more.
I think we may get out in our Landrover on Wednesday, regular cars on Friday.
Cabin fever is starting to kick in. ;D
