New handles
Does anyone know where I can get replacement handles for Youngs Wide neck fermenters?
I have two now that have gone brittle and broken. The drum is fine.

Re: New handles
I can't find anything mate, even the youngs website doesn't have anything. I had a scratch round some drum manufacturing places, they don't seem to sell them separately either?!
And whilst I'm sure there is a catch on the price of these, I did find this place:
http://www.dvcontainers.co.uk/product.asp?pid=52
If that price is right, cut the handles off & send the drum for recycling

Re: New handles
If the plastic ones are bad....what about a 4/5" length of broom handle...drill a hole length wise and thread nylon cord through...that way you have something to grab hold of to lift.

I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Nice. It works for me. 12 man tents used to come in bags with wood and rope handles.

I don't think they're is any doubt anymore
but thanks for the kind thought
So far I have also draw a blank. Woven Red string with a turks head came to mind, but it seems a shame and I did wonder if the string would cut into the plastic lug.
I have tried emailing youngs... Nothing yet.

Fork handles or 4 candles come to mind

Re: New handles
Well I don't know what the handles are made of, but even the main container section, being HDPE, will go brittle eventually. It's likely just the wall thickness that it hasn't done so already.
But with some soft rope you could also make a carrying cradle for it.....
