So she now wants raspberry gin...
I have bought some dehydrated raspberry chunks, 50g.

I don't think her gin from the first run will suit as it is very ginny. To allow the raspberry to shine I imagine you don't go so strong on juniper, should I add the raspberry chunks to the vapour basket or will it work better bath tub style? Or both?

Should be ok in the sputnik, we put orange and lemon
in there. Raspberry is not that strong in flavour,so
have a play let us know how you get on. You can always
re-distil it.
Rather have a full bottle in front of me
than a full frontal lobotomy

+1 I have tried raspberry whiskey.
The drinkers' flavour expectation has been polluted by manufacturers boosting it with synthetic essences.

So IMO make a nice light gin, in the sputty. Buy some raspberry essences and mix it to taste. Finally drop a whole raspberry in the bottle to color it slightly.

Cheers chaps, I don't have a sputnik though, just a beer keg.

First attemp is finished, 500ml Ikea bottle with 300ml of my 40% Gin, 200ml of 35% neutral with 20g table sugar and 6g of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Freeze-Dried-Whole-Raspberry-50g-0-6mm-No-SO2/282864100698
It's been about 10 mins with 3 shakes and it's already pink, I'll filter and serve in a week and report back.

Please do. Be interesting to hear how well the flavour comes through.

I soaked some freeze dried strawberries in gin a few weeks ago. Very pleased with the results.

Well it went quicker that I thought as the raspberry bits were all white as Gaza suggested, so all done in less than 24 hours.

It looks very nice but...as Mash predicted it's subtle.

I soaked the freeze dried strawberries about 2 days and they looked pretty anemic by that point. Looking forward to having some fresh berries before too long.
