After a year of working with a 4 litre SmartStill, I got myself a T500.
I've read a lot of tips/reviews here and on Youtube, and I couldn't resist to buy one, the T500 must be one of the best home distiller on the market.
Also got myself the EZ filter, it looks very handy.
I will probably be thinking about buying the pothead in the future.. ;D

Thanks for this awesome forum!

Congratulations Dynamic . Your consumption, production and knowledge are all about to step up a few notches.

I've run a T500 for a few years, here's a few tips that work for me making a neutral/vodka

1) Choose a good proven recipe
I use this one.http://www.stillsmart.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3735&hilit=fast+fermenting Cheap shop bought ingredients and with a good head tails cut you get a clean tasting base alcohol every time.

2)Get a pot head
Buy one, build one but get one. Do a full heat/ full cooling strip run of whatever wash you choose in pot mode. Then change to the reflux column and run it slowly through. No carbon filtering required. Saves the number of times you have to clean the saddles in the column too.

2) Get better water control
Even with the needle valve they now supply the T500 is a bugger to drive. Small adjustments can bring large fluctuations in cooling temperature. And other times endless fiddling produces bugger all change. I bought a gatevalve and mickeyed up couplings to fit the hoses on. Never looked back. Dial up the sweet spot and adjust for reflux.

Enjoy yourself
