I have not had the still blow its top yet(touch wood)but i have had a few of the first runs that i did when i started that where very close to it i reckon with lots of coughing and spluttering and i reckon this is due to IMO

1.the wash not being clear,i now leave the wash sometimes 2-4 weeks to clear

2.co2 in the wash,i now put the wash in a 5ltr container and shake the hell out of it before running it.

Also i always use still spirits distillers conditioner every time i run and the ceramic saddles,i now use two packets of those and i also blow through the condensor outlet before i start to make sure there are no blockages, result is a smooth run every time now, infact i now do stripping runs leaving the still set on a plug in timer switch.

I use the ceramic rings supplied with the pot still and distillers conditioner ive never had a boil over even with a slightly discoloured wash or when doing a run of cheap wine and bits of junk i have leftover.Conditioner is cheap and using a capful with each fill it lasts for a while.

Degassing is done with a vigourous stir with a plastic spoon ..
