Should have got a couple of rolls of ptfe tape while you were there
it makes a safe seal when wrapped around the gasket, only 50p a roll
it wraps 3 seals when i do it.
cheers B_D

Good point BD...I was wondering if the seals would be ok with likker in them.
They'll be food grade for sure....ok when used with jams/pickles...but I have a roll of PTFE, will buy another couple as well. ;)

I've also wrapped those orange rubber gaskets in ptfe tape before.
Since then, I've left them as is.
I haven't noticed any difference in the spirit or any visible deterioration of the gaskets.

Temperature is huge factor in these things, If it's part of a still where you are dealing with high proof high temp vapour, then plan accordingly. If it's room temperature drinking strength without direct contact, then I'm not that sure it's as big an issue that some other websites make of it.

I no longer use this, but that is a good price for those that do.
Maybe 30% more in cost than my standard neutral, which involves a little more time and effort.
Which of the two tastes better is a different can of worms.
