Blimey. When you get a tractor stuck..

I think people ask too much from their 4x4's I certainly do. I was horrified to find out it isn't an ATV (amphibious tracked vehicle) When did that happen?

Getting a bit bushy myself... But I just want to get on and can't. Chill out, get another wash on!

A JCB digging from each end of the road today, not reached us yet, but at the local councils request, the Trossachs mountain rescue folk stopped by to check we were OK.
I'm stilling, little else to do. ;)

Were you caught in a compromising position then?

Offered them a drink, which they declined. ;)
From a very young age I have wanted to be found in a snow drift by a St. Bernard with a barrel around it's neck. :D

In my area, a wide spread thaw has cleared virtually all snow from the landscape.

I can feel for Easydrinker, though I have little experience of such conditions.

Winters are relative, not only to area but also to age. I can still remember the winter of 1947 (The worst in my memory/experience), where we walked, single file, down paths cleared through should high snow. However, as a young child, small for my age, 'shoulder high' can't have actually been as deep as it sounds.

Conditions were exacerbated that year by shortages of coal. It must be remembered that, at that time, such deliveries were by horse and cart, as were most deliveries of milk, collection of bins, home removals, brewer deliveries etc. The war years had restricted the spread of motorised vehicles and I personally knew nobody that actually owned a car or motorcycle.

I can no longer recall how long it lasted, but as with children, it seemed 'forever'..

Crikey, we have some senior members here!
I was aged 4 in the winter of '63, which gives me memories of licking on icicles bigger than me.
Age and area is a pretty good definer.
And these days it is never going to be as difficult or hard as it once was.
We just get softer.

It doesn't surprise me at all.
So many folk just living for shopping, Netflix and all the rest of modern life's trappings.
Taking, expecting, Googling and complaining.
Gimmee, Gimee, Me, Me, Me!

Off the soapbox. :(

Snow has gone for now except on the hills.

Blencathra - the snow will probably linger up there for some time.
