Hi Gaza

I use a better quality molasses which is £2.99 for a 700gr jar, Holland and Barret always do buy one half price so £4.50 for two

I'm sure I could find a cheaper source of molasses but it's convenient to buy it as I need it.

My rum wash uses 4 jars + 3kg white sugar and bakers yeast

Molasses £9
Sugar £1.35
Yeast £0.40

Total £10.75 per 25lt wash

The last batch I made fermented to SG1.000 however it was left for months to finish, I've just made two more 25lt batches using 5lt of backset in each bucket from the strip of the first.

I've not used backset before so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

My wash won't be as high ABV as yours but I collected 5lt of strip from it, which is what I aim for when stripping, I stop when the output gets to 30%

Hi Anavrin.
Yes know where your coming from.
Usually use Black Treacle and Muscovado
sugar, that's loads of dosh, but the
results are awesome. You can try some of that
in Aug next.
O.G. on these 3x26ltr washes 1130 but never
reads correct with molasses.
I am going to put some coco powder in spirit
run as you said.
How much in 25ltrs?

Wheat flakes used for flavour with some regular sugar may be good for flavour.
I have never tried them at all.
My fear would be them doing as Maize flakes do, making wallpaper paste which burns in your mash boiler really well :o
As always, we love to hear how it worked for you. :D

Not a real mash Easydrinker, just bring to boil.
Once boiling ,simmer for 20mins add sugar and
pour into fermenter.
Did same thing with some malted wheat. The end
result was the best vodka I have ever made :) :)

Sorry may have confused. Elsewhere there is a
thread on cocoa rum. I like the thought, so
did small experiment on Airstill, all went
well. So tried in T500 with copper dome on.
Put 250gms in spirit run. The smell is
awesome but have not tasted yet.
This whole recipe is amazing .
3x washes 26ltr
O.G. 1132-1136
SG.1018-1016
15.2% washes
18.6 litres strip @ 58%
That's more alcohol than ever ;D
