The price of sugar
Just read a interesting article on the drought in Brazil, this will probably effect the price of sugar, among other things. See you later i am off to Lidle with the trailer!

Re: The price of sugar
Whenever friends and family ask me for a bottle, I tell them I accept donations of white sugar in unopened bags.

Re: The price of sugar
I know there's another thread about the price of sugar on the forum, but we did our shopping this morning at Tesco....and 5kgs is still £3.99...glad to say I picked up 3 of them...

I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Re: The price of sugar
I do all my shopping online at Tesco and £3.99 for 5kg is the cheapest I have found.
Then try to pick the £1 delivery slot as it works out cheaper than driving there.
That way some dude does all the shopping for me and delivers it to my door.

Re: The price of sugar
It is late, and I may have said before, locally to me the Aldi and Lidl are price warring sugar,75p/kilo.
Be that as it may,the way my Lyle's Golden Syrup washes are bubbling away, for my attempt at Cachaca,I want more of the sticky liquid.
If you can name a retailer (UK) at better than £1.95 a 907g can,let me know, and make a friend!

If you have a Chinese Super Market near you the chances are that they will sell Golden Syrup in bulk. If not, here is a mail order one.

It is £11.40 for a 7.3 kg which is the equivalent of £1.42 per can.
P&P may spoil the price. But in my small town I have two suppliers that have the large bottles of syrup.

Thanks Brian,
No Chinese supermarket that I know of nearby.
Buying 3 x 7.3kg from the site you posted plus shipping seems to be the best deal, around £1.80/kilo.
If I like the Cachaca,I may shop there.
