That takes me back a bit - I remember when I was a kid my gran was always making jam out of damsons and greengages and the like - I haven\'t seen any of those things for years, yet we frequently get mango and all sorts of exotic fruits. Where are our native ones, or have they all died out?

Where are our native ones, or have they all died out?

Not died, but removed. Hedgerows are not what they used to be, or am I getting old?
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door....

I know that it doesn\'t usually have the alcohol content of mainstream spirits, but I don\'t see any reason why it shouldn\'t "keep".

I recon that the strength should be about 25-30% vol, easily enough to "keep"
I have a small quantity of about 8 year old. The colour has faded to tawny, but tastes delicious.
