.

I did not know anything about Bells Palsey - just looked it up.

It must be a worry for you but the article I read said that "you should be able to see an improvement in a couple of weeks" I will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that it is quicker.

Hope it passes quickly Alan. I believe treatment is very effective.

I was going to say keep a smile on your face but decided against it ::)

Whiskey through a straw is better than none at all! I hope you have a rapid recovery!

@ Alan : Good to hear you sounding positive, I don't know you,but wish you well.I have admired your signature/byline for a while now.

@ FS : where are you,and what time is it that Typhoo does it for you at my time of night, when I am on alco nightcaps? Rhetorical question,no need for an answer, just piqued my interest.

I too have been suffering with the heat here :-[ and have put off stripping a couple of washes that were ready over a week ago.

The 'night-shift' sounds like a good idea to clear the decks as I have two more washes nearing completion and should have two just started but the two awaiting stripping are holding things up as I only keep 4 X 25lt fermenters these days ::)

I have been stripping a rum wash over the past week, seems like a long week with 4 runs in the air stil over the past few nights, but I did get the time to drip shortened to 5 minutes by preheating the airstill with a few litres of HOT water, and heating the wash till almost boiling,, thanks to whoever recommended that to me,, works great

I too have had Bell's palsy, a mild case , it was a bugger sleeping with one eye open and drinking through a straw all the time,, AARRGGHH wore an eye patch most nights,, but recovered 95% my smiles end up crooked,,
All roads lead to rum!!

Alan, try making a yeast starter to prove and grow the yeast before pitching. You can still to this with the wash you have too.

up at 4am stripped 2 sugar washes, added yeast starter to a 50lr sweetfeed wash and one to a failed distiller wash, both going nicely now.

I started up my rebuilt VM last night and drew off the Fores and most of the Heads before shutting it down for the night. This morning, well around lunchtime, I started it up again and pulled off the rest of the Heads with no problem whatsoever.

Given the grief I had with my previous flawed design I was pleasantly surprised at how rock solid this new model is. Rock steady temperature at the take-off, easy to control.

EQ at 400W for 1 hour then upped the power to 700W and drew off the heads. EQ for another 15 mins then power up to 1700W and started collecting Hearts at 1.5lt/hr @ 96%ABV -I shit you not, as they say ;) but very sloooowww!
