that's what I admire about this hobby...if you can ferment it....go for it and see what comes from it.

Hats off to you,as it still (pun?) looks like hard work.
The 1/2" rain here today has not made much difference to the dust and clay.

Little update on this, I never ever had a ferment as wild as this one, and i brewed some beer and stuff in my time, I set it away on the Sat. it was one ugly S.O.B. while it was fermin, but smelled delicious, by the Monday it was down to 10.10 so i left it alone for a few days. tonight i racked off, (what a lot of trub,) into two clean ferm vessels, added 2 part finings (wilko's) which i always do, ' 75p for a clearer wash.
going to run this tomorrow in potstill mode, thanks Vino_Tinto what a difference that copper duck makes.

Re: What I Did Today
Maybe off topic.
I don't usually do spectator sports at all.
Tonight I caught a glimpse of young ladies running their socks off wearing very little,on TV.
So sat and watched a couple of hours of top athletics.
Not being national or political,- does anyone else think Scotland are hosting a memorable commonwealth games?
The home crowd cheer on the home contestants, but heartfully applaud whoever wins,- absolutely brilliant.
In this world,at this time.
Just me feeling good with the world.

Hi mate,
I followed you on this one,
I produced some great smelling but heavily spiced tasting stuff.
I poured all of the maceration into the air still,is this where I am going wrong?
Should I have left out the solids?
Maybe I crushed them up too small?
If you can save me experimenting, life would be easier.
Robert.

Re: What I Did Today
Thought i would give an update about my malt/molasses/branflake concoction,
unfortunately i couldn't get an accurate sg due to the thickness of the wash
but i think i was there abouts with the ingredients at hand.It finished at .10
pot stripped the two runs down to 30%. on Saturday, in hindsight i think i could
have gone down to 20%.it still had flavour, but being my first actual flavoured wash
on the pot, i erred on the side of caution, yield was 10 ltrs at 40%, not quite as much
as i was expecting, (or was it greed) I think the greed got a hold of me, I had some
nice clean hearts at 93% from a lentil run that had no destination, so i charged the boiler
up to 20 ltrs at 30%. took off around 3.7ltrs of nice hearts at 67% i might have got more
or maybe less but the damn revlo router controller didn't control my boiler, it does work.
I tested it on the airstill, but no effect on the t500 boiler, unless the settings on the
power monitor were testing my technical ability. anyways before this post becomes a novel.
Distilled water took the hearts to 62.5% two 750ml in kilners with 100gms jd chips, nuked em
twice, 1 jar has got 3rd nuke 30mins ago, guess whats happening to the other jar. Soooo!
nice, only thing i'll do different next nuke, is char some of the chips, not a lot of people
like the smoky flavour, but thats what i'm after its for my quest to not replicate but
get a nice honey jack/bourbon, that i can call my own.I have ideas but i'll post them in the
relevant section when i refine them.Which i should probably have done with half this post.
thanks for reading ,you can go fill your glass again.
cheeers B_D
p.s. I know i should have done the flavoured run as is just for the experience of doing it.
but hindsight is wonderful thing.

Re: What I Did Today
Made up a simple vodka wash.
500grm bulgar wheat
5kg sugar
2 tbs Dap
100grm bread yeast.
cooked bulgar wheat for 30 mins in 10 litres of water, poured into fermenter add sugar and stir till dissolved, top up to 30ltrs with cold water and pitch yeast.
Iv made this a 30ltr batch to allow for the wheat to swell up.

Re: What I Did Today
Sitting here almost finished a spirit run on what may become my usual neutral(yellow split peas). It seems to be consistant, and fast. And tastes the way it should.
All is well in my world,Hope it is so in yours!
