Helped a friend celebrate a birthday,Champagne,Raclette, fillet steak etc.
Then assisted in sampling the new Talisker Storm.
Yes indeed,a fine time was had.
A good to be alive day, despite the weather.

Having a late night with some music ,growing some yeasties to pitch in the morning,as I will be away working the next 12 days and want them to have finished upon my return, and the brew to be settling.

Re: What I Did Today
A most unusual occurrence. A few of us were sitting around having a beer or two at the local beach bar. We had cleaned up a bottle of Apple Pie and all was good. As often happens, a group of expats sitting around draws the attention of others. So this Canadian lady drops in. I think she is probably a missionary, which is illegal in China.
Anyway, she sees a bottle of my gin and goes off on me for "promoting colonialism". Here is the label that did it.

And a few other pics for you that dwell in colder climes.

Promoting colonialism?? REALLY??? Wow, did you punch her in the throat? no? You should have!
I hate arrogant people who get all preachy and in your face over "their cause" >:(
What is in the jade gate bottle in the beach picture? Love the bottle, would make a nice whisky bottle, cork top and all.

Re: What I Did Today
Hi GoingBroke:
Thanks on the bottle. When I chose that particular bottle it was an attempt at maintaining an old style look. Right down to the cork. I love the sound of a cork being pulled. I use that same style bottle on all my product.
The bottle sitting next to the bucket of caipirinha is cachaca. Third largest selling alcohol in the world. The label is supposed to be showing sugar cane. It is a cane spirit. A cousin of rum. That in the pic has been aged a couple of years. Is very popular and smooth enough to drink straight - but makes a superb caipirinha.

Re: What I Did Today
Attn: GoingBroke. Cachaca can be quite superb. I am very proud of mine. In Brazil there is an estimated 30,000 stills cranking it out. Quality is not a consideration and most is akin to having somebody welding in the back of your throat. Most of mine gets drunk as shots, although it does make a great caipirinha. The pic I posted a couple of days ago showed a bucket of caipirinha. I also make a white cachaca.

RJ, I'm intrigued, even though I've never tasted Cachaca it sounds deliciously exotic. Any chance you'd post a recipe for us to try?
