Decision Time

Your help and advise very welcome peps.
Have just set 2 washes, want to make
Swedish style vodka. I know it will be frowned
upon, but just wanted to try it.
2ltrs Wheat extract,4kg T&L and vodka yeast(S.S).
Now problem is T500 with reflux column for spirit
run,and copper pot for strip. Or do I use copper
for both.
Am concerned that reflux will strip all that
wheat flavour out!!
Your thoughts and advise please.
These are the most expensive washes I have
ever done. Bought for my Birthday pressy after
son rung Love Brewing for advise.

Your in a bit of a dilemma here Gaz...because vodka, under normal conditions is run through a reflux...you finish up with a clear drink. To have flavour carry through a pot still is used....as in rum/whiskey...thinking about it, you could strip on the pot, fast so that some flavour would carry though.

Then run it with the reflux, a bit faster than normal and hope for the best??? I've never needed to do this, I run a vodka with the reflux to finish up with a "clear vodka" as this is what we want. ;)

This is why I'm building a thumper for my rum...by adding wheat/fruit/botanicals this helps to increase the flavour. I have read somewhere a guy runs vodka in a thumper with corn added....just my 2 cents on it mate.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Thanks Ice that has made my mind up.
Run reflux for spirit about 65c and
hope to carry thru some flavour,if
not it will be very expensive neutral ;D ;D

A thumper is not difficult to build...maybe the way to go for you if you want more flavour. ;)

Well Icefever, have striped on 1 wash.
4.9ltrs striped to 35%.
It has a light golden hue and quite a
strong wheat smell.
Done with copperhead on, 2nd strip
tomorrow.
Very happy but not going to use that
horrid black stuff and turbos any more.
Will store this for a few weeks when done
and will let you know :-\ :-\

One question guys.
Should I put some dunder in the
spirit run to carry more of the
wheat flavour over ???
