Her indoors is busy with the Crimbo cake, she has ¾ a bottle of Brandy to add to the mix over the next month. My 2X5 galls of wash has just stopped bubbling so the Turbo Klar will go in this after noon, so the still should be back in action by Thursday at the latest.
I will have a go at the charcoal filter on the still this afternoon; see if I can save some cash by changing the charcoal myself.

If, like me, you always carbon filter your neutral, see if you can track down a Still Spirits "Z" filter. It uses carbon granules/pellets, so it's straight forward to flush them out and put fresh in. Plus you can then just keep pouring boiling water on the used ones until there's no smell of spirit, dry them out on a tray in a low temp oven and re-use them. By doing that, I manage to keep my neutral well filtered and well, neutral. I only spend a fiver or so per annum on a new bag of charcoal (I got 2 the first time).
I don't know if with the filters that use ring shaped carbon elements will clean out by boiling them or not........

I have just bottled my latest batch of cachaça. I got 4 bottles and some tasting from a 25 litre wash which works out at about £3 a bottle so a lot dearer than vodka but well worth it imo.

The 3rd of my new brew bins turned up yesterday and was immediately put to work. Some of the old bins had given me over 30 year’s good service and were value for money. I seam to remember getting 2 of them from a fly tip that we were sorting out.
I am not going to make any plans for to-day, but I will be doing more in my wee distillery than I would normally like to do in a day.
I will get the still going for a start and knock up a DJ of Irish for the wife, see what happens after that.

On the plus side I found a Still Spirits top shelf Bourbon sachet, just after running out of real Bourbon, never tried it before so I mixed up a litre, not tasted it yet but it smells good.
Gaza, don't tell me you let the hole lot drain out through an open tap!!

worse than that. I knocked the whole damn
shooting match on the floor when trying
to clean up. Made a right royal mess.
So not bothering to clean up much now.
On the plus side tested my filter for
durability and they are well made

Oh dear, that sounds like a mess, worse than that is the loss of all the work you put into making the contents in the first place.
The Essencia's are quite tough though, apart from the blue lid, mine has a chip out of it from being dropped.

I am currently drinking neutral faster than the Essencia can produce it.
Must be time for a carbon change!
TBH, I think it may be airlocked
Robert.

Just filtered of that infusion of chilly vodka, doesn’t taste too bad, I will give it a sleep for a week or so and try it again.
Spent the morning designing my Christmas labels, I have a DYMO LabelWriter 400, only prints in black, but a great bit of kit for label production.

Drove to get er brewed and picked up T500 and pot head.
They have a farm shop and cafe, so we stocked up on steaks and then had a lovely lunch sat beside a wood burner.
