The poster, had just started with a easy still and started discussing building far more complex options..
*** read on ***

This has surprised me. You seem to have come a long long way in a few days.
From not being able to keep the lid on an airstill to building a skyrocket.

I have to ask why? Are you a builder or a drinker?

So after many years of reading and researching looking to move on to a different setup

You read my mind Mash, I did loads of reading before I moved up from an AS...reading upon a subject is a good way, but you still need "hands on".

Ok, we all have to start somewhere, and I made cockups at the start, like a lot of us, if we're honest. :D I ran the T5 for a year or so then made a pothead. This put me up on the next step of the ladder. All I have to do now is finish my new column and thumper for the next step up. 8)

I wish you all the best in your build N.E. it is a fairly straightforward setup.

Tbh. Your posts are HUGE (and I don't use caps lightly) so forgive people if they miss a bit, or skip or simply click off.

If you need an answer to a question its better to ask just one, and be concise.

NightEye,
Before I joined this forum I read EVERY post on it, and have read every one since, I read almost as fast as you seem to tap. ;)
I learned about stuff that I don't need, some may call it a well rounded education.

Some folk have limited time to spend here.
Most of us can read faster than we can respond.
Some have low grade spell checking. :D

Some of us Old Timers question why the same questions are being asked yet again, but still try to help newbies, a group that you have now disqualified yourself from.
I wish you well with your build, I am sure that any information that you require is probably here.

I will be honest, I am asking please stop by and chat, please stop writing Novellas, unless they are informative and not questioning. :)

And you could always start the "What I know today" thread....

I do not expect to be spoon fed and I don't expect people to take time out of their day to answer every little thing I ask. I throw them out there to see if I can get any further info and if not, that is OK.

I also fully appreciate people like yourself, everyone who has replied and in general everyone who has contributed on the forums. You posted massive amounts of knowledge and first hand experience and left it here for others to learn from like myself.

from all of the information/guidance/run reports/reviews/warnings that has been shared (which I really do appreciate!)

I know my posts are huge but instead of spreading it out over 10 posts I just put it in one. People like yourself will find it boring and not read, that is alright by me. Someone in my shoes stumbling upon it *might* get something out of it.

Sometimes I wish there was a "what I know today" thread in addition to a "what I did today" thread...... I have to read 4000+ posts just to figure your today out never-mind the thousands of other forum members. And I am not saying that in a derogatory way, just the fact that for someone trying to learn there is just a huge mountain of information to go through.

My response was intended as a gentle reminder of forum etiquette

Forums are imo for question and answer, chat, discussion, review etc.

I think learning is still done in a classical sense with a book. And there are many good ones to choose from.

I love sarcasm, I do, anyway will be interested to hear the results of your 3 runs and will hold off using bicarb myself for the time being at least.

Have you done a neutral previously using the double distill method and not been happy with the results? And is that why you are trying the bicarb?

I'm new to this myself and not done a neutral yet but have a wash fermenting. Currently doing last spirit run on a batch of Rum.

... But also plenty of conflicting information....

Have to agree. There is many many many many different routes to persue in distilling, that and eeeeverybody on Internet is right.

Is that to many many's ;D

How Many Many's Are too many many's?
Many Many,Many Many! ;)

As you say Mash, there are so many ways to skin a rabbit, and many opinions of the best one.

As has happened here, when someone asks the best shape for copper boil pieces, you say coins, I say it doesn't matter; your experience has shaped your opinions, and the same for me.
We do both recommend using some though.

My point being that there is little point in asking for a definitive answer to a contentious question.

Presumably you can ‘compress’ ie draw off clearer defined fractions with temp control?

No really - compress not remove. Compressing the heads mean to tighten them up. So they are easier and more precise to cut.

Quit the attitude eh! Theres a good chap. We are a polite bunch here and it will stay that way.

English isnt my first language, but do I feel some negative vibes around in this forum or I just need to do some more learning the language? :)

Coming back to compresing heads. So if I understand right, this happens not during distilation, but somehow preparing mash before distilation. Where I can not thing anything else apart letting wash to clear. Where I think I understand something wrong here. Can someone give me real example of compresing heads from personal experience. To compare "with compresed heads I got this, and without compresed heads I got this". Many thanks :)
