Re: labeling bottles
I use A4 sheets of pre-gummed labels, available from most Stationers. My most used size is the 2x4 label format (2 columns of 4) per A4 Sheet but there is a vast variety sizes to be had.
I experiment with layout, wording, fonts and colours until I'm satisfied for the job in hand, then print out and save the label in case needed again in the future.

My mate over the road has just invested several grand buying a laser cutting/engraving machine, including an extra attachment for doing bottles and othe cylindrical objects, I've not got a design yet but it's going to look quite cool once laser engraved into the glass

Re: labeling bottles
Been looking into engraved glass for a while now.
There's kits that make it look engraved i.e. stencils with a frosted looking clear lacquer, but I seem to recall reading about some sort of acid etch arrangement - just not managed to locate one.......
The laser engraving sounds rather cool though, if you've got the readies........

Re: labeling bottles
I tend to label very few of my products,as in the interest of home distilling and anonymity, very little is given away, and none is sold.
Occasionally I produce a label with the help of Photoshop, and fix it to the bottle using nothing more than a rubber band.
I feel it adds a certain Red-neck something.
And is usually done to gift someone that I trust.
Otherwise,I collect Spirit bottle from wherever, and recycle with something similar as the content, complete with original labels.
Robert.

Here's a few of my favorites,

If you click on them you should be able to read the text and you'll discover I don't take myself as serious as some seem to think
These were made just using Open Office...nothing fancy

Re: labeling bottles
I used to do that too
but started labelling for a bit of fun when I noticed I was building up stock. It's mainly for the laugh but it does help with dating the contents and I put batch numbers on grain based spirits.
Even though I have a goodly amount of spirits building up, currently 12 cases of Bourbon Style and BBQ Smokey Whisky and 11 cases of Vodka
I still keep making more cause I just love the whole process
and with our friends looking forward to the BBQ Season kicking off on Paddy's Day that lot won't last pissing time

I guess it is whatever works for you, label or marker pen.As long as all is properly known or marked, you will be safe, and not drinking Rum flavoured water.
That was a killer anecdote by the way.
