Re: What I Did Today
I dug the airstill out as I had a small whiskey batch to process, but did a spirit run on a demijohn of cachaca first. I strongly suspect airstill is better than T500 with pot head (no copper dome) at full power for a spirit run as T500 is (as we already knew) way overpowered and giving horribly smeared results.
I really need to get my power controller thingie wired up and reduce power during heads and tails phases, assuming I can recognise them.
It has reminded me how ignorant people describing airstill as a toy still are as it really does give very decent results on a double distill.

Re: What I Did Today
Most Airstill criticism seems to come from people who have never used one.
The only criticism they really deserve is the slow work rate due to small volume.
But there are work arounds for that.
And small volumes are sometimes needed.
Robert.

Re: What I Did Today
Today I finished the massive clean up of the man cave. Been doing lots of DIY recently and putting tools away have been 'chuck em in the shed til tomorrow' sort of thing for a few weeks.
Was out buying sugar from one of the poundshops last week. Got home and there was a black sack outside the back door. Turned out a mate who works for an ambient food distribution company dropped me off a 25 kg sack of sugar. Add that to the stuff I already have means I have enough for nearly 8 5 gallon washes.
Going to be a busy boy over the next month or so.

Wrong end of the country for a friend of yours to become a friend of mine.
Shame
But good for you!

Think he might become a reeeallly good friend
Finally got around to making a 12v siren, for my ATC800 controller. I use this for all manner of over temp moniotring things - big grape ferments and now the freezer.
Did have a cheap Chinese electric bell, but that destroyed itself first day out.
Now I have a 120db siren - only a silly thing but really pleased.

Re: What I Did Today
Finally got round to fitting the power controller thingie to an extension lead and doing a feints run. I had roughly 5 litres of mixed heads and 5 litres of rum tails both of which I was confident had a lot of "good" alcohol in them.
Diluted to 30% and ran it nice and slow and ended up with 6 litres of 40%+ of triple distilled booze of some description, which is nice.

Re: What I Did Today
Nice ones Anavrin and Curmudgeon.
Off on a Tangent again...
Today I declared an end to the mole trapping season and will present the final farmer with a bill on the morrow.
Many reasons for ending now, more money to be earned elsewhere being high on the list.
Robert.
