What I Did Today

I also ordered some Premium Madagascan Bourbon Vanilla pods to add to the mix.
If you're gonna use vanilla in spirit for flavour, don't bother with "premium" pods. B or second grade ones flavour fine.
In fact, I bought 50 from ebay for a fiver. I just cut them in half and split them down the middle and put the lot into a half gallon of high strength neutral. After a month or so, a brilliant (but a damn sight cheaper) half gallon of vanilla extract - that was 3 or 4 years ago and "erindoors" is still trying to finish it up........

Doing a spirit run at the moment.
Stock levels had got shockingly low. No idea how that happened. Must've been those pesky Angels taking more than their fair share

Do you know if the copper column condenser and all the fittings are made from solid copper? I was watching a video this morning from a uk supplier and he said and I quote "It is exactly the same as the stainless one except for the colour" . I'm hoping to order mine on Thursday morning and have asked the same question regarding the material, hopefully have an answer in the morning.
And he also said he could not detect a difference in taste using both columns, so i'm going with the copper one... I think it looks better

Re: What I Did Today
I have a stainless column and copper dome
and copper condenser.
Your report is correct on the copper column
but it still is a fantastic bit of kit.
I have no complaints, enjoy your hard
earned pounds, make some nice vodka

Re: What I Did Today
I finally filtered my latest Something Comforting from the fruits and spices.
Have gone through two stepped stages of sweetening and fortifying.
I now need to leave it alone until the morrow, as I have now lost the ability to correctly assess if it needs more sugar.
10 litres of loveliness seeking bottles.
'Tis a hard life at times, to be sure.
Robert.
