Re: Interesting video...Cold Distillation
Sacred gin does this too, they pull less of a vacuum though, so distill at 40oC. This apparently prevents boiling the botanicals, and changes the flavour.
I've seen a few vacuum distilling rigs built by manu from www.stainlessstuff.net
its interesting, but the volume of the stills are really small as anything being subjected to a vacuum has to be supper strong.

Forgive me Capt, but your typo's do make me smile.
Thanks for the link.
I have just come back from supper with a chemical engineer,a one-time Diago employee, who rushed to an internet connection,to show me graphs and stuff, that, yes, what Loxley do is just theoretically feasible.
But is cutting edge,in his opinion.
Has anyone here tried this stuff?
Is it worth the cost,or will we stick with a neutral neutral and a bit of essence,- or a few botanicals of our own?
Robert.

Curious thing is they say they load it with 85odd% proof neutral so this has been reflux/continously stilled elsewhere within the group (they're part of Bacardi)
Sounds like a gimmick although I think the Independent 'London Distillery' does a bit of this as well
I'm visiting them in January so will find out more

Anyone got a spare iron lung so I can give it a go

Always give the hardest job to the laziest person because they will always find the easiest way to do it.
