Who are you
Some people seem to make for the joy of making it. Others for the joy of drinking it.
I think I am a maker!
Who are you?

Both, but I would not spend my time making it if I did not also drink it.

Re: Who are you
I am definitely a drinker.
I enjoy the process of making and flavouring, but would find a different hobby if I were not drinking my produce.
I have many calls upon my time, outside of earning a living, and for me home distillation is all about quality product at lower cost.
Oh,and I enjoy breaking stupid laws, and depriving the revenue men.
Robert.

There is no ONE way.

Re: Who are you
Ditto here....I do it to drink..but I know a guy who makes gallons of fruit wines and gives it all away...strange...

I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Re: Who are you
I remember sticking Budwiser labels on my bedroom wall as a teenager because I thought they looked cool, now I think about it, it was a shrine to booze :-)
I've always had a good job, lots of spare cash and to be honest I don't remember much of my 20's, things have changed in my 30's, have the big mortgage, kids, caravan, second car etc, the only thing I don't have anymore is a pot to piss in in terms of spare cash.
Was a good innings but these days I am starting to take more of an interest in the making, still like a drink, just not on a school night.

Re: Who are you
Well I've only been at this for a few months, and I'm only using an AirStill, but it's at least as much about the making as the drinking for me.. I've spent a lot of time with the AirStill Best Practice Guide (wonderful document
) and my results are definitely improving.
Cheers

Re: Who are you
Iv'e got agree with chill on this one, i wouldn't go to all the extremes
that i do if i couldn't enjoy the fruits of my labour.
When i first started i had grand illusions what i could do, but now iv'e
refined my procedures im pretty selective what i make.
So i would say i'm a bit of a fussy maker,but mostly a drinker.
I do appreciate a nice tipple, especially when theres thought time and
care put into it.
cheers B_D

Re: Who are you
I reckon this:
"C" words associated with this art of distilling include:
"Constructor": being someone focussed on the mechanics and skills of metalcraft/tool (aka still) making
"Chemist": being someone heavily involved in the science of distillation through measurement (temp/abv%/ppm/FG)and all it reveals
"Consumer": being someone who simply wants to make reliable/inexpensive spirit to drink.
I am included in above....no prizes for guessing though.
