Woke this morning and getting a burp every 3 or
So seconds through the airlock.
With regards to nutrients, I was under the impression the yeast is would get these from the
Cereal in the wash.
I'm a little concerned now that I may get a yeasty flavour carried over as it has now had 10 tablespoons over its course!
Any suggestions as to how to run it through the
Smartstill or shall I just run as normal.
I'm hoping for some flavour from the cereal in this
One.

I wouldn't worry too much about the yeast. I boil fresh yeast to explode the cells to provide the nutrients for fermentation. It all works out ok and the yeast at the end of fermentation is a lot more than you have added.
Just run it. The cereal in these style washes is mostly there for flavour.

I think there is no risk of that at all. I am trialling 100g in 25l not expecting a problem.
1 tablespoon is circa 15g. So you are well in.

Let it settle somewhere properly cool for a couple of day and the run normally.

Where did this recipe come from ?

YHB is the one that I remember doing lots of cereal washes on here.
And he seemed to like them.
He possibly stripped more taste out of them with his gear though?

Robert.

I might be giving this a go soon.

25 litre
12 crushed weetabix
3 cups of crushed bran flakes
5kg sugar
100g yeast
Kale Juice *

Freeze strip. Air still. Oak

* ICE... this is your fault. :)

Hey guys. Thanks to all your input it looks like the wash is nearly done. Stuck the hydro in it today.
still tastes great too.
now sorry to be a pain but what are peoples thoughts of maybe doing this like a ujssm? As in add backset sugar and water back to whats left in the fermenter? Or will it not work with it being cereal and not proper grains?
Thanks in advance

I will probably freeze jack to strip and then spirit run on an airstill.

She who shops, is getting my stuff tomorrow. Is there any specific instructions or is this a "lob in & stir"

All my cereal washes have been similar, sugar gets dissolved into minimum boiling water then add cereals & top up with hot tap water until there's just enough to soak it all. Then add cold a litre or so at a time whilst keeping an eye on the temperature for pitching. I don't know if adding the cereal to hot or cold makes a difference but it smells nicer when you're making it if they go into hot! Like breakfast on a winters morning!

No activity through the airlock and it's dry and finished.
Should I let this one clear or run it as it is to try and maximise flavour in the airstill?
Have you put this wash on yet mash?
