ok so i have had a good look at it and seen the fragile looking threads on both filtewrs and the be careful bit about not over tightening .
so ho weak are they and how tight is not too tight ?
i managed to break the still spirits easy filter a couple of weeks ago just hand tight and i snapped the plastic thread ,i dont want that happening again ,

finger tight is just a gentle nip up

Rather have a full bottle in front of me

Re: Just got an Essencia
I have screwed and unscrewed both filters many times.
Never had a problem.
Why should you?
Robert.

Re: Just got an Essencia
Meh! I use a still spirits Z filter (not sure if they're still available, as I notice that the SS site now shows the "EZ inline filter" instead.
I've not yet looked those up to compare costs etc.........
{edit}Just looked those up, and it seems that the complete assembly for the EZ inline filter is £15 and the refil carbon units are £4.50 - whereas I follow the guidance from Gert Strand and use one fill of loose carbon to filter 25 litres or so of finished spirit, then I remove it and repeatedly rinse it with boiling water until there is no more "smell of spirit" in the steam. Then I just dry it off in a low oven and mix it back in with my bag of spare carbon pellets - hence I get through about 1 bag a year, which would be a lot cheaper than using yet another carbon unit for the inline - dunno if the inline carbon can be safely rinsed through without it falling to pieces{/edit}
