Re: Horse feed molasses
Sorry John Doe don't want to steal your thunder but in my opinion I would not try to go above approx. 8% on a rum wash. I think you will be stressing your yeast at 16%/17%. That's my two pence worth.

Re: Horse feed molasses
it dosnt say anything about sulphured, its the common gold label brand.
I havnt done the wash yet, as i had 15 gallon, (3X5gal) of muscavado and blackstrap, i made a while back. i just stripped and run through the pot, i will make this horsefeed for my next rum wash, will be a while before i get to try it out finished, but i now have 15 litres of pot stilled muscavado at 55abv on oak, I'm happy for now.
i ran out of space as i also had 2 lentil washes and a couple of plain sugar for gin.

Re: Horse feed molasses
hi running man, i was just following what the rum yeast pack said. taste good not sure what would happen if i tried the horse feed but my recipe was dark muscavdo sugar and 1 tables
soon of blackstrap per gallon/kg which is then mostly fermentable sugars i believe.
