Rice vodka

Postby Distillingchris » Sun Apr 28, 2013 2:12 pm

Has anyone done rice vodka before, just looking at recipes and the most popular seems to be uncle Remus rice vodka, however he also uses sugar with the rice, does anyone know how much starch and in turn sugar you could get out of rice, he uses amalyse so he must be getting some conversion but I'd prefer to stay clear of sugar and use just rice ?

I've tried it, but wont be rushing back to do it again. Very time consuming for very little return. The product is very good though, so depends what you are after.

this is a good guide, hope it helps you.

I've done it once as well. As Cap'n said it is a lot of work for little return. And you need to find a source of Koji as well.

What about using rice flour and amylase. Works with Cornflour ;D
