Power meter for boiler on eBay

Postby Anavrin » Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:31 pm

Hi Guys

I was looking for a power meter to put on the input to my boiler and found these,

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/350837409041?nav=SEARCH

It will even calculate the cost of your electric used and show additional info like power factor.

Anyone got one? Looks good to me for a tenner :)

Hi,
It's a different make,but it is the sort that I use,no problems,dead simple.
Plug your controller into it,and instantly see where you have dialled the power to.

It's just a little under rated for my 3kw element but I never run it flat out anyway, so I think I'll pick one up, cheers guys :)

Got it today. Works great, just one question though as the destructions arnt too clear about programming the price, when inputting the cost in pence per kW/h the format is 00.00

Think my electrons cost 10.71p per kW/h, so do I put 10.71 or 00.11( rounded up to 11p)

I think I should use 00.11, I set this and boiled 1 litre of water in my kettle for 1p

Does anyone know if that sounds right?

'Tis late,if it looks wrong in the cold light of day,I will respond.

I'm with those who recommend this piece of kit. It is ideal for knowing what watt's what. I faffed around with digital and analogue gauges till I read ED's recommendation to use one of these. Sweet as and ideal for the T500 (1800 watts). I have been happily using this with a cheap ebay controller on my T500 (1800 w) for many happy run hours.

Just a note on these, it states the power range is upto 2900 watt but mine measures higher, I've had my element on full and it quite happy measures 3050ish, not sure how high it can go but it's not limited to what's on the label.

Anarvin. Like the expiry dates on things you really want to eat or the recommended daily intake of fermented beverages ... actual results may vary.

ED Neddy ? Is that you?? :o

Thanks for putting me straight.
Never got on with the goons, with hindsight,it maybe down to the quality of loudspeakers we had then,it was shrill, squeaky, rattling around your head and making my eyes pop.
Certainly,in later years, and with better speakers I came to like the work of Spike and Sellers.
Hope your liquor boiled to your contentment.

Got one of these and they're brilliant value for money and do exactly what I want

However looks like the instruction sheets been chucked out so cn someone tell me how to reset the total cost of power used to zero (assuming you can) as I would like to easily cost each run
