We have the softest water available, it rains on the hills nearby, and is pumped to us soon after.
I can see the treatment plant over the valley from my window.
Mains water contains Aluminium, Iron and Manganese.
I suspect some of these are added in the purification process.
It claims no other ingredients than the breakdown components of chlorine which is added for purification, (Trihalomethanes).
My brew is fermenting well now.
I am happy.
Robert.

I think it more than likely needs calcium(s) adding when you start.

Sitting here drinking some carbon filtered Tamarind/as/yeast food neutral spirit.
It is pretty good.
Today's washes are my regular lentil, cut back to 200g, before I say that one is better than the other.
Whatever, Tamarind certainly makes good yeast nutrient.

Sounds good. Are you still planning to drop an air stone in it?

I used a block of tamarind in a concotion I thought up last year. Had it lying in the cupboard since who knows when.... Boiled the block to soften it all up to a pulp, can't remember the exact recipe/other ingredients, raisins were there....anyways, thought I was being clever, but as usual, I wasn't and the result was crap....never again....

I would love to know what else you used to make a crap spirit?
Or were you going for a wine?
Robert.
