Just thought I would share my pot still build with you. I managed to rescue a 50ltr beer keg from a farmers scrap heap for my boiler, when I got it it was covered in dirt and paint as well as having a big hole in the side of it. With a bit of love and a bit of swearing got it clean, the hole welded up and all my ports into it.

It has a 4” fill port, a 2400w submersible element, and a thermometer on the top. The pot is made of 2” copper 700mm long to a 25mm over 15mm Liebig condenser 1200mm long.

My controller is one I just bought off of eBay but so far it does the job and just plugs in so is easy

. Finished building it and after doing my cleaning and sacrificing run I did my first stripping run of some UJSSM and was very pleased with it. A 18ltr boiler charge took 2.5 hrs from turn on to turn off at about 2-2.5 ltrs per hour.

I too like the cut-away idea.
And wonder why Bob Dylan is singing in my ear "The pumps don't work......."
You still have handles!
Your fill port is big enough to get in for a proper clean.
Best of luck with it. :)

Robert.
