Basic Filter - Will this work?

Postby BlindXX » Wed Nov 22, 2017 7:44 pm

Hi all, my essencia carbon filters need replacing. The ceramic filter has broken completely in half (transportation issue) so there is no get round on this. It seems expensive and awkward to find new filters. Instead, I was wondering about getting a Stilldragon 2" 510mm pipe and a filter disc (and possibly a reducer) and filling it with activated carbon to use as a filter. As some may know from another thread, I am looking to upgrade to a t500 (with or wothout Reflux condensor) and get hold of a stilldragon pot head to use with it, so this pipe would also be compatible with the pothead components. I was going to filter directly back into the t500 boiler. Is this a viable option?
Of course its supposed to taste like that...

I can't see why not. I have seen a few handmade ideas. As long as the Carbon stays in the filter you have cracked it.

Others will be asking soon...

The boiler is just a convenient container that the tube will clamp to so I don't have to find alternative means to support the pipe. I can then decant into jars/bottles after filtration. Sorry, didn't make that clear. Also forgot to ask if cotton wool can be used at the base of the pipe, above the filter disc to keep the carbon in place. Thanks

Those cotton wool pads the girlies use to wipe off
warpaint make a good filter, cheap to.
