It tastes bloody lovely mash. I've just put the first strip run on so really looking forward to seeing how it smells after a strip.
One quick question. Would a normal fermenter be ok to store the strip at 30%?

Yup for a short time. But glass or ss would be better.

So i got all the strip runs done which took a while! Collected till 20%
Then spirit runs
50ml thrown out
100ml heads 1
100ml heads 2
50ml heads 3
750ml definite keep
100ml possible
100ml possible

100ml smelling a little funky
left to air overnight
so far everything except heads 1&2 and the funky smelling one taste incredible. I am absolutely blown away by this and will be getting another wash on later.
going to cut back to 53% and stick on jd chips although its perfectly drinkable white.
now a question. How long om the jd chips?

Taste it every few day to start with and then less frequently. You cannot take oak out.

It's at 0. Almost done.

Had anyone else noticed that kale does seem to get REALLY dry if you let it go?

In the freezer for a couple of days. I am amazed how dry hot kale washes are finishing .850!

Its been a bonkers week so it is still in the freezer !! This is a good reminder to nip over to the freezer and invert it.

ive had 1.5ltrs on jd chips at 60% since the 26th of last month
also got some clear stored at 60% .
tried a little of each cut to 40% and i actually laughed a little.
they are both completely sippable without mixer and are far and away the best ive ever made.
so glad i tried this wash and its now going to be my wash of choice.

We all seem to try a few and then settle upon a neutral wash that suits us!
And familiarity does seem to help quality.
Equally, the more that a person makes cuts, the better that they get at doing so.
These days, with my neutral wash of choice, the tasting is a second opinion, it is so formulaic that tasting, I often don't bother...
I know just where the numbered jars fit in the bigger picture.
This is not magic, for the most part it is rote.
And comes with experience/time I guess?
Sometimes, a new wash has to be tried, just to stop the boredom setting in!
