Great stuff in my opinion. Made another batch last night. I split one pack between two washes. The one I put the yeast nutrient in. Is bubbling like pure madness. "might do same with the other one too. Like using an air stone in a fish tank. I still rather use S shape airlocks. Seem to be better made then the three peace ones. Last night batch might just need some more time to pickup. Tried (dady) distillers yeast few times. Was very very slow stuff. Not much drop in PGravity

On other sites such as home distiller they hate turbos with a passion. I have always had success with Alcotecs Vodka Star. Is this a more turbo friendly site or are there Turbo haters here also?

nah this is a freindly site compared to HD site
theres a few that uses alcotec V/Star even me after
been giving some advice about them on here and stay away from
stillspirits turbo yeast (the stuff what you put the liquid carbon in )

As Magnu has said, there's a friendly bunch here, happy to discuss anything distilling related.

I started with turbos and still use the occasional vodka star. Makes a good neutral that I'm happy with.
At the end of the day, if you're happy with the end result, that's what matters most imo.

You can use whatever yeast you like and whatever still you like as long as they are safe and you enjoy them. If they are good tell us about them, if you are having any problems then ask about them.

There are no Turbo Haters here that I can think of, but stick around and you may stumble on other washes that you may eventually prefer.

Just sent for a pack of Essencia super 6 "turbo" which has better reviews than the Alcotec Turbos, wonder if anyone here has tried the Essencia product? Also sent for some citric, gypsum, DAP, epsom salts to try a simple sugar wash. Thanks for the welcome I have a PDA1 set up with the extension column, gives 94% every time.

I'm probably the most anti-turbo guy on here and while I don't like them I'll defend your right to use whatever works for you.

At the end of the day you drink what you make so it's completely your choice and my opinion is just that...my opinion and I've loads of those

I thought that Alcotecs Vodka Star was not actually a turbo despite the name on the package.

I've always contended that VS isn't actually a turbo because it doesn't require the use of activated carbon in the wash and doesn't produce a high % yield with off tastes.

In fact the highest I can get from VS these days is about 13%ABV

Vodka star is my yeast of choice for a plain sugar wash .. I find it superb.

Double air still strip .. 14 days with bicarb in .. then spirit run .. lovely drop of stuff

yeah .. I find it makes a smoother spirit / easier cuts in the air still on the spirit runs.

It certainly has quite a reaction when you mix it up initially .. and the smell after is a lot better

Interesting. I collect up my heads, cut them 50% with hot water and then add bicarb until no more will dissolve. I then run it though the AirStill the next day, though I doubt there is a need to wait. It does result in more usable alcohol than just re-distilling the diluted heads.
