Hi all,
Had a search but cannot see much... Honest, I did.

Just been cutting my last lot down to 40% with Morrisons bottled water (Yorkshire Vale) brand..
Trouble is, it's given it a slight haze? Can anyone recommend a good water to buy that doesn't cause problems.

I was happily using the Lidl sub £1 for 5 litres spring water until I sold my car. Then I tried the 19p for 2 litres asda bottled water (though they'll only deliver 6 at a time for some reason) but the cats weren't keen. Now I'm on the Asda just over £1 for 5 litres spring water and the cats and I are happy again.

Even my tap water does the cloudy thing but clears. Someone smarter will say it's hard, has calcium, flouride etc

Tesco Ashbeck water is my tipple, it comes in at 6.2 pH (I tested it) and costs £2.10 for six 2 litre bottles or a 5 litre bottle that makes a good wine fermenter afterwards.

I really struggle to buy spring water.

I can't get Del's Peckham Spring Water out of my mind.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I also use the 5 litre water bottles as demijohns and to rack wash into for ease of movement and to free up fermemnters.

For neutral spirit I simply use tap water and bung it through the Essencia.
It seems to take out all the stuff that I don't want.

No Morrisons in Ireland, but most supermarkets have "nice" 5 litres for around £1 with Lidl being cheapest. Asda 2 litres at 17p for the non mineral/spring stuff is great but is not much better than my tap water.

My gin gazed at 40% so I keep it crystal clear at 42%.

My gin hazed or louched last week, gutted.

I measured the ABV which should have been 43% and it was down to 35% , but it was very cold

Took a bottle of it and put it in a sink of hot water to warm to 20c . ABV read correctly but also the louche disappeared and the gin wa Crystal again, and stayed away !

Try taking a sample and warming it

Liking the warming tip, I don't think that I have seen that before.

I used distilled water.

Did several blind taste tests with my wife using gin diluted with distilled water and gin diluted with tap water and she spotted the difference every time.

You may have made the rod for your own back...

Many years ago I went through a detoxification phase using different waters and was surprised to find the that I could detect the differences.

My favorite came from a spring that bubbled out of the ground up in the hills, I also found good water in a disused stone 19th century cistern that was in the woods near my home.
