alcotec 48 to airlock or not?
i have just started my first go with this on the 8kg wash with a start sg of 1.122 and i was just wondering as the directions say \"do not use an airlock\" ... Why not?

Cos it probably foams like hell, either that, or because it's such a fast fermenter, it just blows the airlock water straight out the top.......
I'd just put some cloth or paper kitchen towel into the grommet hole, then that should stop any nasties crawling into it....... but still allowing it to vent satisfactorily.
