I have always wanted to find a natural water source. Considered putting a bore hole in. Not as dramatic as it sounds.
Did you get it tested?

Both spring and cistern were next to well trodden paths and had been drunk from regularly by passersby.
A word of concern regarding cisterns and wells, if they are from the 19th and early 20th century, lead piping was probably used in there construction.

Has anyone considered using their stills "down time" to produce their own distilled water?
That would work.
And no-one to blame but the distiller.

I found a Britta water filter jug in charity shop for 50p replaced the filters and bingo!

At that point Robert was falling asleep, and managed a double post using the very exact science of falling onto the keyboard in exactly the right spot and then not wriggling around too much.
More than happy to leave the double post as proof that I can be just as big a dick as anyone else.
