Elderflower Sputnik Gin

In these days of Gintastic productions from the likes of Mr Hendrick and Mr Gordon I thought it was time to have a go - and I got a request I just couldn't say no to :)

I can't see me bothering with cucumber, but eldeflower, appealed to my taste buds.

By way of a disclaimer - I have never tasted an elderflower gin, but thought I would give it a go.

Here is the recipe and I am yet again 'chuffed' with the sputnik output !!

Aimed at being a lighter gin and showing off the Elderflower...Please have a go and feedback your tasting thoughts and suggestions.

Sounds nice, I'm not a big gin fan but a lot of family are. Where did you get the elderflower from Mash?

As we progress in years we must take
opportunities as they arise Benoit.
The Sputnick devise will open the door
for all us gin lovers with an Air Still,
can't wait to build and try mine. Hoping
the postman delivers the goodies tomorrow.

Amazon and Ebay have dried. I am sure a good HBS will stock as well.

I used the old 2oz/gal ratio from my Apple Mosel wine and tuned it from there. It comes through ok I was nervous to go to far cos it can get a bit cats wee smelling. If you really want got to 10-12g. Juniper notes are quiet.

The sputnik really is brilliant for building & testing recipes. This only takes 2 hours.

I certainly couldn't call it gin, but I make what me and my friends consider to be a nice tasting spirit using some of this mixed with a filtered neutral. Very easy!

It does come out quite sweet.

I also bought a load of slush machine syrups from Robert Dyas when they were selling them off for 50p each, raspberry, strawberry and mango syrups. They come up sweet but that suits us quite well.

Any plans or links to the Sputnik basket design ?

Seen them mentioned before, now I'm curious........

Is it even very different from a "normal" him basket ?

The principal is the same. This is just made to fit in an airstill.

A small colander on 3 ss threaded rod Legs. Cheap as chips and IMO a worthy mod/addition. 8)
