A place for general discussion

Things are beginning to look up. After 24 hrs airing there is a marked improvement. :D :D

I had to try a tipple, the flavour is definitely there. Can't say it tastes like any form of whisky yet but certainly tastes of Cornflakes. I've never oaked before and that's an issue at the moment. Will be sorted when I get back and can purchase some. This little baby will have to sit quietly for a couple of months.

I was going to try the onion skin trick for colour but I'm going to wait for some Medium Toast French Oak and see what happens. I haven't got a clue what to expect, but who cares. :)

Got plenty of backset ready for Generation No 2. ;) ;)

Yes, it tastes like breakfast to me, not whiskey. It can be a pleasant drink but no one would mistake it for corn whiskey. Try some with milk and sugar. ;D

I wonder if I can get away with a shot for breakfast. Will certainly wake me up and give me energy for the day. ;D

Amaark, put some away with some oak for a few months in a distant cupboard that you will forget about. You will be surprised. It will test your willpower too lol.

Gen.2 is a lot better. I am just about to start Gen.3 of mine.

If you can't wait, try FullySilenced nuclear method with a pint or so.

In any other context we would all be locked up for the mere discussion of nuking cornflakes. lol ;D ;D ;D ;D

I am not able to purchase any oak (JD, toasted or silver) at the moment, rest assured there will be some in my case after my next rotation, so it will have to sit as a silver spirit until August, but that's not a particular issue (Hmmm I don't think, thirst dependant)

I'm gonna start Gen 2 this weekend and get the materials for Gen 3 ready. Two boxes of Cornflakes (last of the big spenders)

Sounds like you need a care package of some JD chips!

I have done 6 of the cornflakes whiskey recipe and if you use half of the backset for the next generation the corn flavour actually does get stronger. Using backset also works for the Allbran recipe.
