Hey
Looking for advice on turbo carbon
Does it work?
Is it worth using?
SS claim it helps to remove dead yeast cells and unwanted flavours
What do you guys think ??

I do not think that the carbon in the wash is a system favoured by many here.
It is all part of system to get the maximum amount of Alcohol in the minimum time at the sake of quality. If thats what you need then go for it, but there are lots of other options.
I am sure that the carbon does help in getting rid of some unwanted flavours, but where do the unwanted flavours come from? - The turbo yeasts.
So if you use a system that does not push the yeast too hard, you will not get the unwanted flavours therefore you will not need the carbon.

This the recipe I use for a 25 litre sugar wash
5kg sugar
200g tube of tomato puree (this is the nutrient)
Juice of 1 fresh lemon
1/4 teaspoon of Epsom Salts (Andrews Salts can be used as an alternative)
75g Allinsons Dried Active Bakers Yeast (Asda of Tesco's, it's in a Yellow Tin)

I run the same wash. It ferments almost as quick, and is also much cleaner tasting than a turbo based wash. (And much cheaper too)
This is a good calculator to work out different sized ferments:
