Re: Stainless Steel flexible gas hose for condensers
Big boys blanked me. Found a local supplier but they are not cheap. I'd be selling at about £20 a meter for 1/4" which seems too dear to be worth the labour save.
I can get some bare stainless that is approx 12mm OD and sell it for £25 + postage at cost, for 2m with a ring and seal for each end that will let you use it with standard 15mm compression fittings. Should fit 2" pretty easily and be more than enough to knock down anything you throw at it with tails out the top to connect to.
Would there be any interest at that price?

i would imagine so, if i had not made my own coil from copper i would be biting your arm off, and am even considering one anyway .. how many do you need to shift to break even?

Re: Stainless Steel flexible gas hose for condensers
I just need to sell four as I will be keeping one and am planning to buy a 10m coil. There is no real price break for larger coils, just pennies in it.
If those four go and enough people still want one then I will get some more. Or I will get more than one 10m the first go if the demand is there.

I am not sure I will use it,but I might,so I will state publicly that if you wish to do this,You can put me down for one.
£25 + post seems OK to me.
If you go ahead,pm me,and we will sort out payment and addresses.

Re: Stainless Steel flexible gas hose for condensers
Thanks for that but there is a wrinkle. The rings and seals are not for compression fittings as I though but to seal against the end of a flat faced 3/4" niple with a union nut. Looks like the nuts you get on compression fittings but a different thread. Still trying to find out exactly which 3/4 inch thread it is as there are several.
The only alternative is just doing what Dad300 does and pushing hose over and clamping it with hose clip. It works but not as nice as ends that screw on.

I may be wrong, but isn't " a flat faced 3/4" niple with a union nut" the same as a UK washing machine/dishwasher connection?

I think so but you need a union nut to go over the pipe, then the ring in the first valley. Screw it onto your niple to squish the end of the pipe flat then add the sealing washer. BnQ or ,Screwfix probably have the bits. He confirmed that it is just BSP thread. I would assume parallel.
He does have the other bits but they are relatively expensive compared to the rings and seals. They are 50p each and the nipples are about £2.50 each and the nuts about £1.50 each; both in brass. He reckons that the nipples have a bigger flat surface than standard brass nipples. Dunno.
Washing machine fittings are the same flat sealing surface but I don't know for sure you can get just a male nipple or a hose with a male end which is the bit usually on the back of the washing machine and the tap adaptor. The hoses are generally female at both ends as I remember them. Not an expert on that though.

Got a chance to check. Plastic 3/4" nipples for joining washing machine hoses are about £1.24 with postage. Union nuts do seem to be about £1.50. Seems dear for a simple nut, even in brass.
I'll see if the guy will do the brass nipples and nuts any cheaper as tens. Been busy elswhere lately.
