Ok so some people recommend saving the heads up to do a spirit run.
i did this following the guide on here and the smell of the stuff was that bad i stopped the airstill and dumped the lot..all the heads have been collected from kale wash sprit runs 250ml from each run.any ideas why this should be, or is it just not worth keeping the heads.

I normally collect 50ml from a 25l kale wash. I keep that for cleaning.

Do we ever merge fores with heads and forget which is which?

Assuming a neutral type wash.
Depending upon where you collect.
The first bit is for fire lighting.
The next bit, before the drinkable, you might save, and add to the the bit after the drikeable,which you might also save, and when you have enough saved to water down to sub 30%, you may choose to to do a combined heads and tails run.
From a 20 litre wash of such I might expect 2 or more litres of firelighter.
There may be up to 2 litres of drinkable.
Then switch off and throw away.

You could do a head & NOSE RUN.

Don't mix heads and tails to run in an airstill. Collect and run them separately. That way you don't get smearing. For the heads runs, once the concentrated heads are done, you can collect much further into the run as there are no tails. For the tails run, you can start collecting immediately, but will hit tails earlier than in a normal spirit run.

I've never run anything where the heads ended after 250ml. 600-800ml of heads and heads contaminated hearts is more typical. I hate the taste of heads. If you are only collecting 250ml form each 4L run, there might not be a lot of good stuff to get out of that.

I collect my heads until I get 4L. I then add 2L of this, 2L of hot water, and about 3/4 cup of baking soda and run it. That gives me two runs which results in about 1.6L of 70+% yield. Yes, yes, I water that down and filter it. For these runs, the first 250ml goes down the drain and the heads after that kept for future runs. I get 800 - 1000ml of heads from each run.

The logic of this seems to be blindingly obvious.
It only clashes with my mindset in the statement of throwing alcohol away.
To me, any alcohol that burns has a use.

Someone here claims heads makes a good deoderant/anti-perspirant.

@ Easy D. Its alcohol and kills bacteria and as such its a hippie deodorant. But unless it smells good, you would be defeating the reason for using it and replacing one bad smell for another.

You only need a dab, so use the good stuff. Who knows where it might lead. Just dont drive with a good whisky splashed all over you.

Am right that perfume is alcohol based?

Yes Mash and a good squirt of Fores
will keep the flies away let alone
the women.
