Well being honest I still buy genuine Islay malts but happy to quaff homemade single malt too
I honestly think I will never buy another bottle of gin vodka or Irish cream cos this stuff is IMHO a damn sight better.
I do enjoy spreading allsorts of other home made stuff around pals and acquaintances in my locals (still luv real ale too >:D )
Tis just great fun spec with this forum :D

good question,I like my hillwalking and bothies up in the Highlands, and I do like a single malt to drink in the bothy after a day on the hill, but when home, its my own stuff for me,dont think i'll be buying another ltr vodka bottle again ,not at £21,however at the end of last year I took a ltr of spirit flavoured with whisky essence, sat in a remote bothy on the west coast, watching the boats fishing near the top end of Skye ,listening to me fav acid-croft band Shooglenifty, and it was damm fine. ;D

Another bothier - our paths may have crossed on a far strung summit or round a fire ;D Real men carry coal!
Not one for recorded music in the bothy - but have taken a guitar to more than a few - unless you were in the bothy with the shoogle? Ended up a a party on Eigg with them before.

I still buy lots and lots of red wine - single malt and an occasional premium gin to taste my product against for comparison. (botanist is a fav at the mo)

It certainly sounds a little more sophisticated in Scotland - the West Yorkshire equivalent is stumbling around in an alleyway behind Asda, looking at the bins and singing Macc Lads songs! ;)

In Lancashire we normally just drink every time Jeremy Kyle says the word 'scum'.

You get drunk fast.

I like the fact we have some hikers on here. I fully intend on drinking my own hooch out on the fells wild camping this spring/summer.

We don't have anything as posh as bothies down here.

Cheers!

No but we have "Camping Barns" or "Bunk Barns" - admittedly a poor copy of a Bothie but some of them are nicely isolated in stunning locations.

Used to mainly drink beer with the occasional pre mix spirit 6 pack. Bought a T500 about 5 months ago and since then have bought about 3 cartons of beer. Have found the home made spirits to be much smoother than the commercial brands, a splash of coke and im away.
Hard not to drink more spirits when you have 70 litres in you cupboard, just about a bottle of everything!!!

Thanks YHB.

I always so those as being YHA style things, filled with with annoying young students full of life (yes I am a bitter old bastard), so have always given them a wide berth (!).

I agree about the locations though. Some of them would give excellent opportunities to have the fell to yourself.

I'll stick to my tent.

Getting back on topic.

I have always been quite a heavy drinker. I spent £250 on cocktail booze for a birthday party, enjoyed having my own bar, and started to look into being able to replace the bottles more cheaply. Now I'm here.

So I still drink heavily, but my bank balance is a bit better.
